A large atmospheric oil painting depicting the Trinity Test where the first atomic bomb was tested in the New Mexico desert, as part of the Manhattan Project.

The night before the test was scheduled a storm raged above the test site, scientists and engineers were unsure if a lightning strike might not cause the bomb, suspended at the top of a metal tower, to detonate. A single brave scientist was left to babysit the bomb through the stormy night, the storm retreated and early in the morning of July 24th, 1945, all personnel were withdrawn and the bomb was tested, detonating at about 05:30.

I imagined the first atomic explosion rising against a backdrop of a desert storm, and a natural dawn. Our world could never be the same again. Please email for details.
